The Tahitian pearl is an organic gem formed from the black lip oyster. These pearls derive their name from the fact that they are primarily cultivated around the islands of French Polynesia, around Tahiti.
Tahiatian black pearls are the only natural dark pearl. In addition to the body color, Tahiatian pearls can display an amazing range of overtones(especially the circle and baroque shapes).
Traditionally the most sought after (expensive) Tahitian pearls will have a dark green body color and peacock (think oil slick) overtones. We have sourced a small collection to make this beautiful collection of earrings and studs.
