Our Studio Director Christopher Allery is a visual artist whose photographic practice explores the emotional and narrative potential of light. Working across portraiture and landscape, his images often emerge from remote travels and personal spaces, capturing moments suspended between reality and reverie.
His new show AFTER LIGHT opens in Brisbane, at Jan Manton Gallery, August 3 to 10, 2025. Opening night drinks Friday, 8th August 6pm. All are welcome.
Drawing on cinematic influences, Allery creates atmospheric works that use light not just for illumination, but as a way to shape mood, memory, and presence. His portraits are quiet exchanges between subject and environment, while his landscapes evoke a deep sense of place-both felt and imagined.
His practice is informed by ongoing explorations in Japan and Australia, where shifting light and weather become central to the story of each image. Allery holds degrees in Visual Art and Film from Queensland University of Technology.
In 2024, he was a finalist in both the CLIP Award for Contemporary Landscape Photography and the Percival Photographic Portrait Prize, recognising his strength across both genres.
