UNIQUE LAYOUT

Laura, based in San Francisco, emailed us wanting an asymmetric cluster using mixed diamonds and Australian sapphires. She was drawn to our AIRIEL RING which features variation in shape, size, and colour, but needed a low profile ring due to working with her hands.

Her brief: was a full bezel in platinum combined with our AIRIEL design.

This created a clear conflict. Asymmetric clusters rely on lift and separation to read clearly, while a bezel setting lowers each stone and closes the edges. The design risked collapsing into a dense, flat composition.

We kept the bezel setting throughout but held the layout open. Rather than tightening the cluster, we spaced each element and ran an offset arrangement across the band.

Each stone was individually bezel set in platinum with careful control of height and spacing. We developed multiple layouts and shared them with Laura by email, moving stones, adjusting colour, and refining proportions until the composition held together.

The ring sits low and protected on the hand. Each stone reads as a distinct element. Light moves across the surfaces without the cluster reading as a single mass.
